StorylineForge API Key Setup Guide

StorylineForge uses external AI providers for scriptwriting, image creation, and video generation.
To access these features, you supply your own API keys (BYOK – Bring Your Own Key).

Required API Keys
You will need keys from the services you intend to use:
How Keys Are Handled

Your keys are stored only in your browser’s localStorage. They are never sent to Storyline: Forge servers and cannot be accessed by us in any way. When you use a feature, your browser connects directly to the provider’s API. This means:
  • We cannot see, log, or forward your API activity.
  • Your provider’s billing applies directly to you.
  • Keys remain active until you delete or replace them.
Security Considerations

Because the keys live in your browser, their security depends on your device. To stay safe:
  • Only use trusted, secure devices (avoid public computers).
  • Enable device screen locks and keep browsers updated.
  • Rotate keys periodically and revoke unused ones.
  • Enable 2FA on your provider accounts.
Managing Keys

To update or remove a key, edit or clear the field in your Profile and save. Keys are immediately removed from localStorage. If a key is lost or compromised, generate a new one from the provider’s dashboard and replace it here.

Billing & Costs

All usage is billed directly by the AI providers. StorylineForge does not add fees or markups.
Check your provider dashboards for usage and cost controls:
  • OpenAI Usage Dashboard
  • Replicate: usage section in account settings
  • Runway: API usage tracking in your dashboard
We recommend creating dedicated keys for StorylineForge, setting spending limits, and reviewing usage regularly.

Of course, we offer comprehensive paid plans if you prefer to not use API keys at all. See pricing.
